how does the things you are working on help other people?
Managing a vital, yet limited, natural resource like fresh water is a great challenge for people everywhere. The science questions I try to answer with my work are directly relevant to water problems.
For example, in order to know whether it is a good idea to plant pine trees in the mountain that provides drinking water to a city, it was necessary to know how much water pine trees use and therefore, how much water would be left available.
