Poem : Rain

Rain patters on the window

like little feet.

Puddles splash and wet leaves

spiral and than waft away from their homes.

Streaks of yellow, red, and brown

sluicing down the street

sliding and bumping across the cracked black tar.

A tiny sparrow takes shelter from the drizzle

under a green leaf.

The last trace of summer.

A raindrop slides off the tip and bounces onto its tiny feathers

and separates into little droplets.

They stay there

like little pearls.

The sparrow chirrups once

than springs into flight to find another leaf

leaving the pearls

falling

            falling

                        falling

to the ground.
