Service Dogs, More Than Man's Best Friend

Service dogs provide more than their friendship, they provide security and independent living for the people they serve.

Some service dogs are trained to help blind people navigate through our world. Guide dogs are working when it looks like they are out for a walk. A guide dog should not be bothered when it is on duty, especially when it is guiding it's person across the street! When a guide dog puts on his or her working harness, it assumes a more confident posture.

A guide dog has to be able to perform under stressful situations and dogs that can't handle stress don't become guide dogs. Guide dogs love what they do, and quickly become a second pair of eyes and more importantly, they become a family member.

Guide dogs are allowed by law to go places other dogs can't, even restaurants and hospitals. They are great dogs!

I think that it is fair to let guide dogs in restaurants because even if they are muddy they are helping a disabled person.I personally think that people who raise guide dogs are very thoughtful of their community.

Good Job, very nice tribute to the under estimated service dogs. Did you know that now by law dogs that work in the military are allowed to go home with their owners after the war instead of like before when they would be put back into kennels and pounds. Its just heart warming to watch some videos of dogs being reunited with their human friends <3

This article helps me understand the wonderful help these dogs are! This reminded me of these dogs I heard about who got trained by people in jail and passed down to people in need. They helped the jail people be loved and show love while getting passed down to help more. My school used to have a service dog come and I'm happy we did!

animals can help people in so many ways. I heard once that monkeys would help blind people just like guide dogs.
