January 21st, 2017 was the day it all began. Over 400,000 citizens of all races, backgrounds, sexualities, and genders came together to march their rights. The streets of Washington D.C. were packed with vivacious citizens for the first ever “Women’s March.”

This event turned out to be the largest single-day protest in United States history. Since then, cities all over the country have joined in the march. Millions of daughters, mothers, sisters, and friends have been brought together to fight for their rights. The first rally was aimed towards President Trump and his standings but as of today, women and company all over the country have begun to fight for so much more.

One year later, the Women’s Marches around the country have not lost their spark. They have gained popularity and spirit. Citizens gathered around their city to march and project what they are fighting for. And they were not just women. Men came out in support of injustices, as did children who wish for a better world.

This year, some were marching for immigration laws and DACA as well as policies regarding human rights. People made a stand for truth, equality, kindness, and justice. Chants were created and slogans were read all standing for freedom of religion, healthcare reform, and LGBTQ rights. People had colorful posters and clever T-shirts supporting survivors of sexual abuse; this being a larger problem today than it was a year ago.

Women were reported saying that the reason they marched was so their granddaughters could have the same rights as their grandsons. Every head in the seas of the marches was marching for themselves and their fellow United States citizens because enough is enough. What will you march for?

I might be a boy, but I think all that unfairness is stupid.

Everyone is just bolder now. There was always sexual abuse, but women were  too scared to report it.
