I wonder if those bar thingies are lightning bars. Maybe they're just support.

No, I don't think it would be quiet big enough for it to destroy anything. The finger tip that is.
And it might have just exploded from the heat and intensity of the lighting strike.

Well I would guess it'd be hit by lightning if its that tall.
