hi! I love helping out new youngziners and answering their questions!
so, to answer yours:
*the explorer points are gained by "traveling" around the website, taking quizzes, watching videos, things like that.
*the commentator points are gained by commenting on articles, videos, games, UChat and UJoke, as well as anything else i am forgetting that you can comment on.
*the writer points are gained by writing articles and UWrites for youngzine.
*once you have gained many points on one certain point catergorie, then you will win a badge, and the color of the highest ranking badge you own will be the rim around your picture.(mine is silver)
*hope you have fun and enjoy Youngzine for all it's worth! (you should check out the "create your own masterpiece" game! :)

BADGES
You get badges in stages. Green, bronze, silver, and gold etc. The more stuff you do on YZ and the more you do for YZ the higher level of badges your going to get.
WRITER BADGE
To get a gold writer badge, you send articles you wrote to YZ and they post it on U Write. It is actually pretty cool to get to see your stuff on a website.
COMMENTATOR
For this one all you do is comment and rate the article you read. And also the more you comment the more points you get. If you get a lot of points, you could get into the hall of fame. I'm in it right now. :)
EXPLORER
For this one, you just explore YZ! Find all the past articles, find all the new articles. Play the games, do the quizzes. It is really simple!
POINTS
To get points just do things on YZ. Also if you do quizzes and get a bunch of the questions right, it will give you points. Reading and playing and winning contests will also give you points. (the contests are really fun.) :)
