Today at my first softball game, the ref had to call it quits because there was nearly black, very ominous storm clouds passing directly overhead. Plus lightning of course.

Sure! I live in Las Cruces NM and it is super hot and dry here. I really like it here but I didn't before. Here in Las Cruces, it is already climbing into the hundreds everyday. When we were hearing about snow in the east, we were wearing summer clothes here. When blizzards were rolling across the country, we were in sweatshirts with temperatures in the fifties. But despite the heat, I love New Mexico. I'm proud to say I'm from New Mexico because we were the main reason World War II was ended. There are two major ways in which New Mexico contributed to the war effort.
1: How many of you guys have heard of the Navajo Code Talkers? It's not mentioned much in history books but the Code Talkers developed a secret language that was used to hide information from the enemy. The Navajo language is so complex that the Japanese couldn't crack the messages we were sending! So next time you learn about history ask your teacher about the Navajo Code talkers and I'm sure they'll be very impressed! :)
2: The second reason you are probably familiar with. The Atomic Bomb ended the war when we dropped them on two Japanese towns. I am not proud of the fact that we resorted to such measures to end the war but I can say that I am proud of the knowledge NM holds for being able to produce it. The bomb was called "The Manhattan Project" and it was created in Los Alamos NM, which now is home to the highest average salary in the country. The scientists at Los Alamos worked on the bomb and then tested it at the Trinity sight which is at White Sands National Monument. White Sands is beautiful and only about a half an hour from where I live! You should look up White Sands because it's really beautiful!
I'm sorry that was really lengthy but I'm really passionate about history and I like the rest of the country to know that New Mexico is more prominent than some might think. Can you believe that I've actually been asked how I got across the border because people think New Mexico is still part of Mexico!
If you guys want to know more about NM, let me know. But just to warn you, I might write you an essay as a response! ;)

Hi Eliana - We had looked into this feature last year, but it was difficult to add into the current version of software we are using. Upgrading the website is a big job - we will see again if there is any other way to make this happen.
You have been sending us some great ideas - we will work on some of the others you have suggested over summer.
