I just saw that there was snow in some parts of New York. Anyone living near where there is snow? I live in the desert (NM), so having snow now would be super, super weird. We hardly even get snow in the winter! :)

We shopped for cars ALL DAY LONG.
This morning my family and I walked down to a park called "Veteran's Park" where they raised the Garrison Flag and sang the National Anthem. It was so moving. It was sad too, because my sisters and I were practically the only kids there. I feel like sometimes the younger population of today forget what holidays like this are meant to be about. It's not just barbecues, a day off of school and the beginning of summer, but rather a day to remember and thank fallen heroes and those still in service.
I would just like to say thank you to anyone who is or has ever served in the U.S. military, army, navy, etc. You are what makes me proud to be an American!
It's not "morbid"! It's a way to honor fallen soldiers! I'm not saying you should take your kid into a war battle! I'm just saying it's nice to take a moment and be thankful that you're aren't in that war battle! That you are alive and well. Soldiers have given their lives for your freedom! You should thank them for that. There's nothing "morbid" about it! Of course it's not wrong that no other kids went, but that doesn't mean that it's not wrong for them to show up either. Parent's should be explaining these things to their children and letting them know how important it is to remember. Not keeping it from them because its sad.
I guess we can agree to disagree. I didn't mean to sound mad, just passionate! Of course it is your right to do what you want with YOUR kids.
But remember that memorial day events are not supposed to be morbid events, but rather peaceful, beautiful, events used to remember fallen soldiers and to be thankful for what they have done for our country.
